Lez Barstow set up StandApart in 2008 with the specific aim ofbringing together young people and ex-offenders wanting to
establish careers in the creative arts with organizations and
individuals in the community wishing to pass on their expertise.
Our initial aim is to set up a Northwest database which will bringĀ together committed and aspiring talent with those organizations
which can help to facilitate their progress - everything from traditional
sources of experience such as youth clubs, repertory companies and
educational facilities to specialist meetup groups, TV production and
facilities companies.
In addition to putting individuals in touch with the most appropriate of
our partner organizations, StandApart will also offer opportunities to
work within our own production company on a variety of creative projects.
From the beginning, StandApart will feature a variety of organizations
offering training and experience, listed both geographically and according
to the type of specialism they offer. Typically, clients might wish to
advertise and access services at a local level. However, our database will
enable clients to find out what is on offer farther afield- indeed, some
training initiatives in London or the north of Scotland might inspire similar
schemes in the Northwest or even encourage regional and national
partnerships. You can see examples of some of the schemes we would like
to help nurture under the "partnerships" link on this page.
